Learn to build fish cages
     Cooperative Extension at Virginia State University (VSU) will hold an aquaculture workshop on how to build cages for growing fish in ponds for fun or profit. Free and open to the public, the workshop will be held on Wednesday, March 24, from 1-5 p.m., at VSU’s Cooperative Extension Pavilion located on River Road in Ettrick.

Plan a vegetable garden
      Begin planning for a successful vegetable garden. The Chesterfield County Office of Cooperative Extension will offer a free seminar about popular varieties of vegetables, as well as garden care and harvesting, on Tuesday, March 16, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Clover Hill Library, 6701 Deer Run Drive. Thomas Dale science fair scheduled

Take the GED® test for free
      Thanks to a grant from the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), the school system’s Adult Continuing Education Office will offer free GED® tests during March. The usual cost is $45, but first-time test takers who register in March will pay nothing to take the test.

Vehicle slams into Islamic Center, wall destroyed

     There were some tense, scary moments for members of the Islamic Center of Virginia on Buford Road when a vehicle struck a classroom wall on Feb. 28 around 10 a.m. A child was in the classroom at the time, but was not injured.
