Man arrested for commercial burglaries


 Robert W. Robins, 44, of the 10700 block of Blossomwood Road, will go to trial on August 22 in General District Court for indecent exposure. Police arrested him on July 14 for allegedly exposing himself outside a restaurant on Commonwealth Centre Parkway.
Chesterfield police have arrested a 25-yearold man for a series of commercial burglaries in the county and the Richmond metro. Michael C. McTernan, of an unknown address, was arrested last month with the assistance of the Ashland Police Department following an Ashland thrift store burglary.

Police believe McTernan may be connected to more than 20 commercial burglaries in Chesterfield beginning in March. A number of surrounding localities have experienced similar crimes.

McTernan has been charged by Ashland police with two counts of attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools.

In other police reports:

Aldridge Road. While the victim was napping at her residence in the 2400 block on July 24, her daughter took a 2005 Nissan from the driveway and drove off.

Harrowgate Road. While the victim was out of town, the suspects entered the residence in the 5900 block and had a party. They used the keys in the house to drive the pickup truck, returning it with little fuel. Food and other items were taken or consumed.

Harrowgate Road. The two suspects entered the Lottery store in the 16000 block shortly after 9 p.m. on July 23. One suspect put a gun to the clerk's back and forced her to the floor. The suspects fled on foot after taking the money from the register and the lotto machine.

Iredell Road. At 2:45 a.m. on July 19, the victim found his W. S. Connelly & Company vehicle engulfed in flames while parked in the driveway of his home in the 9600 block.

Ironbridge Plaza. The armed and masked suspects entered Friedman's Jewelers shortly after noon on July 20 and ordered the employees to lie down on the floor. One suspect stood guard over the employees while the other used a clawed hammer to break open the display cases. They drove off in their vehicle after taking some jewelry.

Old Stage Road. Shortly after midnight on July 19, the victim and the suspect went back to a motel in the 12700 block to join friends. When no one else was at the room, the victim attempted to leave but was forcibly restrained by the suspect. He allegedly assaulted and raped her before stealing her 1998 Chevrolet. Later that day, the suspect was taken into custody in Philadelphia and the car was recovered. David Blache, 37, who resides in Kenner, La., was charged with abduction, rape, malicious wounding and grand larceny.

Timonium Drive. The victim arranged to buy drugs from the female suspect at 11:30 p.m. on July 20 in the 11100 block. He was "ambushed" there by the male suspect who rummaged through his pockets. The suspects drove off together after taking the victim's cash.

Vinings Drive. As the victim unlocked the front door of her apartment in the 5700 block at 2:30 p.m. on July 19, someone pushed against the door from inside, preventing her entry. She walked around to the rear of the apartment and returned to find the front door open. Nothing was missing.

Walking Path Lane. Three juveniles were seen vandalizing the inside of a house under construction in the 6200 block on July 23. Witnesses detained them, and the juveniles later admitted they had entered two homes under construction through the garage doors.

West Oak River Drive. While the victim was out of town, the suspect(s) gained entrance to the residence in the 9200 block and stole baseball cards from throughout the residence. There were no signs of forced entry.

Worchester Road. The suspect(s) attempted to steal a DVD player from the ceiling of an unlocked SUV in the 2400 block on July 20. They were unsuccessful, and the DVD player was left dangling by its wires from the vehicle.
