Chesterfield Jaycees plan Sept. 30 charity golf tournament

The Chesterfield Jaycees is hosting its 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit Mission: K-9, Manchester Volunteer Rescue Squad and Camp Virginia Jaycees. The shotgun start on Sept. 30 is at 1 p.m. at the Highlands Golfers' Club.

Door prizes, goody bags, raffle prizes and awards will be given out. An awards dinner will follow the tournament. The cost is $75 per person or $300 per team.

ACAC Fitness & Wellness Center has opened Adventure Central with over 3,500 additional square feet of kids' programming space, which includes a game room with virtual fitness bikes, foosball, air hockey, and a movie theatre with projection screen and theatre seating. The creative center is equipped with a variety of arts and crafts materials and a multimedia lab sporting 11 flat screen computers and music recording stations. 7,000-square-foot Astroturf field, a new outdoor basketball court and increased outdoor pool space. The center is located at 11621 Robious Road.

After winning the American Legion regional tournament in New York earlier this month, the

Midlothian Mules baseball team from Post 186 lost its bid at the World Series in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, last week.

Post 186 was defeated by a team from Metairie, La., on Aug. 15. Metairie went on to win the championship with the Midlothian Mules finishing third.
