CJW Medical Center ranks in top 10%

CJW Medical Center is ranked in the top 10 percent of hospitals in the nation for maternity care and received the HealthGrades 2006/2007 Maternity Care Excellence Award. CJW Medical Center is the only hospital in Richmond to be recognized for clinical excellence in maternity care.

HealthGrades has independently analyzed maternity care at more than 1,400 hospitals across 17 states. The 2006/2007 HealthGrades programmatic ratings for maternity care are based on in-hospital complication rates associated with vaginal and cesarean deliveries, in-hospital volume, neonatal mortality, and complication rates for non-indicated or patient choice cesarean sections.

The Chesterfield County government is being awarded the Employer All Star Award for proactive efforts in promoting diversity and demonstrating a commitment to the added value that diversity brings to an organization. The award was made by the Richmond Human Resource Management Association and Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce.

"Our initiatives consist of internships, recruitment, retention, outreach programs, community celebrations and training," said County Administrator Lane B. Ramsey.

Ukrop's Super Markets has completed a 16-month renovation effort at its Chesterfield Towne Center store at 11361 Midlothian Turnpike with new dcor, bright lighting and split aisles for easier shopping.

The performing companies of Jessica Morgan School of Dance will attend the Dance Educators of America National Competition in Las Vegas from July 8-16. While there, the companies' 58 dancers, ages 8-18, will attend several competitions and workshops.

Lenita Gilreath, executive director of the Chesterfield County Chamber of Commerce, recently completed a week-long professional development program with the Institute for Organization Management held last month at the University of Georgia.

The Book Exchange will host John Tyler Community College Day on Saturday, July 15, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Representatives from John Tyler will be in attendance to welcome guests and answer questions about the college with proceeds going to the college's library fund. The Book Exchange is located in the Village Market Place Shopping Center.
