LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Dear Editor, [Midlothian Supervisor] Ed Barber has been convicted of [two misdemeanor] sex charges, and now charges, and now the Chesterfield County [Board of Supervisors has] asked him to resign based on the fact that he has embarrassed the county. If that is the standard for resignation, then all of them should resign, as they have all been an embarrassment to the county. They blatantly disregard the public trust. Placing police at the precincts, the illegitimate approval of the botched, incomplete Watkins [Centre] development plan, the purchase of Cloverleaf Mall, and the plane trip to Kansas are just four examples of why they all should be thrown out of office. The Chesterfield Observer has now published two articles in less than one year, trying to manipulate the outcome of an election that doesn't happen until next year. Is this the same Republican desperation as we have recently seen on the national level? Does the local Republican Party know [its] days are numbered? It's time for some new non-party affiliated candidates to run [for office]. Doug Srock Chesterfield County The stories referred to by Mr. Srock reported all the candidates-Republican, Democrat and Independent-who might be considering running for office. Editor
