The Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department and the Chesterfield Jaycees are hosting the 29th Annual Rainbow of Arts Festival at Rockwood Park on Sat., Sept. 16, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. This arts and crafts event will feature an "Imagination Station" where children can experience clay art, and there will be a children's play area. "Poetic Expressions," a collection of watercolors by artist Genevieve Dumouchelle, will be on display through Wed., Oct. 4, at the Chester Library. Demouchelle's work has been displayed at the General Assembly Building in Richmond, Petersburg Area Art League, Petersburg Regional Art Center, Rappahanock Art Center, the Rawls Art Gallery in Courtland, Va., and the Wakefield Flower and Art Show, and has received numerous awards. "Get in the Know" Emergency Preparedness seminar, 10:30 a.m.-noon, LaPrade Library. Recommended for adults ages 55 and older. Home- and personal-preparedness instructor Candy Chester will teach participants how and what to prepare for survival in the first 72 hours of a natural disaster. Creative Movement for Mommy and Me, 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m., Thursdays, Sept. 7-Oct. 5 ($12.50), Oct. 12-Nov. 16 ($15) or Nov. 30-Dec. 21 ($10), Bensley Community Building, 2900 Drewry's Bluff Rd. Chesterfield County's Henricus Historical Park will celebrate its 20th Annual Publick Day, a celebration of the founding of the 1611 Citie of Henricus, at the Henricus Historical Park from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Witness demonstrations of 17th-century medical practices, military reenactments, Virginia Indian activities, children's historical games, storytelling and craft demonstrations.
