Chesterfield surveys citizens

Chesterfield County is conducting its fifth citizen satisfaction survey over the next five w e e k s to gauge citizen reaction citizen reaction to county government services. Virginia Commonwealth University will administer the survey via telephone by calling county residents at random with a 10-minute survey.

CJW Medical Center recently announced several promotions: Dia Nichols has become chief operating officer on the Chippenham campus. He previously held the same position at HCA's John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell. Richard Zucker is now director of pediatrics of CJW's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Zucker was formerly director of pediatrics at City of Hope National Medical Center in Santa Monica, Calif. Barbara Mathay is director of Health Information Management on CJW's Chippenham campus. She previously held the same position at Children's Hospital in Richmond. Jo Newcomb

has been promoted to nursing director of the Intensive Care Unit on CJW's Johnston-Willis campus.

Robin Graves has been certified through the American College of Sports Medicine and is now a clinical exercise physiologist.

Dr. Chad Schanilec has joined Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics of Virginia with Chesterfield locations at the Family Health Center (7410 Hull Street Road) and the Clover Hill Medical Center (13841 Hull Street Road).

The Chesterfield County CROP Walk will be held in Brandermill on Nov. 5. Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Sunday Park. Last year, more than 165 walkers participated in the event, raising more than $7,500 for the Church World Service, an ecumenical, humanitarian relief agency working to curb world hunger. U.S. Air Force veteran and Ballistic Missile Squadron member Terry Karselis was interviewed by the History Channel last month for a program about the Cuban Missile

Crisis. Karselis served in the 579th Strategic Missile Squadron, which was responsible for the maintenance and repair of launch control equipment and blast detection equipment for missiles near Roswell, N.M. The show will air on the History Channel as part of the "Our Generation" series between late October and mid-November.

Christopher Vlk, a 2003 Manchester High School graduate and son of Paul and Debbie Vlk, designed and edited an autism DVD series and as a Web site for the Friends for Autism Foundation. He is owner of ClipGloss Productions LLC, an Atlanta-based video and post-production business. The series is being marketed worldwide online and with media distributors.
