Resident enjoys Nienow's "Loose Ends" column

I always enjoy [Susan Nienow's] column, and particularly enjoyed "Once upon a pillow."

I have had the same experiences throughout my life. I probably did not pay much attention to it when I was younger, but now that I'm over 60, it really bugs me, and I feel I have earned the right to complain to the world. We have wonderful down pillows at home that really allow us to be comfortable. I generally take my own pillow when I travel, but it is sometimes difficult to explain to the National Transportation Security folks at the airports.

Many years ago I started to refer to hotel pillows as "giant sausages," and it was fun reading [Nienow's] column and learning about [her] parallel thoughts. I just can't remember many hotels in which I had a feather pillow. I believe there was one that had pillows stuffed with feathers that had previously been stuffed with lead. I could barely lift the pillow.

I believe the answer to great pillows must be found in France. Knowing how much goose liver paté comes out of France, they must also produce the finest down pillows in the world. I think I'll go there and find one.
