In The Spotlight...
Discover Chesterfield Walking Club, Tues., Nov. 7, 9 a.m., Pocahontas State Park, main gate entrance off Beach Road. The Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation Department has organized a walking club for seniors, designed to introduce participants to Chesterfield County parks and greenways and encourage active lifestyles. Seniors may meet new walking partners or walk the trails on their own. Parks and Recreation staff will lead each walk. Free. The People of Pocahontas, noon-5 p.m., Henricus Historical Park. Explore the culture of Virginia's first residents and learn about the skills that enabled the Virginia Indians to survive. Learn how they flourished and how they shared their knowledge with the colonists. Cost: $6/adults, $5/seniors, $4/children 12 and under. Free for Henricus members. "On the Way" art exhibit, Chester Library, 11800 Centre Street. On display through Dec. 6. Features a collection of watercolors by local artist Pauli Hagan. Country/Contemporary Line Dancing course, Nov. 7-Dec. 12, 7:30- 9 p.m., Bensley Community Building, 2900 Drewry's Bluff Road. Learn the basic steps of current line dances to a variety of music styles. Beginners are welcome. Dance partners are not required. Course fee is $25. Annual Benefit Auction for the Chesterfield County Historical Society, 7 p.m., Wrexham Hall, 10301 Old Wrexham Road. A silent auction will begin at 7 p.m. and a live auction at 9 p.m. Enjoy wine, beer and heavy hors d'oeuvres while listening to live music by Debbie Reed. Tickets are $20. Sat., Nov. 11 Electronics recycling, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Rockwood Park, 3401 Courthouse Road. Most electronics will be accepted free of charge, but there will be a $10-20 recycling fee for televisions and a $7 fee for computer monitors.
