Mistletoe Magic at Henricus, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Henricus Historical Park, 251 Henricus Park Rd. Children ages 5-9 will learn the differences between the Christmas celebrations of the English, who delighted in merriment and presents, and the settlers of Henricus, who simply celebrated their survival. Children will also enjoy making holiday ornaments and visiting the Citie of Henricus to spread some Christmas spirit. Light refreshments will be served. The fee is $8 per child. Holiday caroling, 12:30 p.m., Barnes & Noble, 4600 Commonwealth Centre Pkwy. The sixth-grade chorus of Chester Middle School will perform songs of the season. Chesterfield Historical Society Christmas Open House, 2-6 p.m., Magnolia Grange, 10020 Iron Bridge Rd. The 19th-century plantation will be elegantly decorated for the holidays by local garden clubs. Light refreshments will be served, and the gift shop will have its annual holiday sale. Santa will be available for photos! Event will feature decorations and refreshments in each neighborhood at the Healthcare Center, Adult Day Center and Assisted Living Center. The Springdale model cottage will host a tour and open house. Bring in canned goods to benefit the Central Virginia Food Bank. Mon., Dec. 4 and Wed., Dec. 6 Holiday Baking, 6-8:30 p.m., Manchester High School, 12601 Bailey Bridge Rd., Midlothian. During this course offered by the Chesterfield County Public Schools' Adult Continuing Education program, students will work with various cake batters, frostings, pastries, chocolates, savory breads and specialty cookies. Tour the 1611 Citie of Henricus and talk with the settlers about their life and holidays in the 17th century. Free. Held in conjunction with the James River Parade of Lights (see listing below). This lighted-boat parade spans nearly 12 miles of the James River from Richmond to the Varina- Enon area, and is a holiday tradition for spectators and boaters alike. The boats will be lighted on the James at Richmond and then will cruise down the river. Chesterfield viewing locations include the Dutch Gap Boat Landing, 441 Coxendale Rd. (parade viewing at 7:15-7:25 p.m.) and Henricus Historical Park, 251 Henricus Park Rd. (entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m.; parade viewing is at 7:30- 8 p.m.). Parking is limited, so arrive early.
