      The replacement for Clover Hill High School is back on schedule after the Chesterfield School Board voted unanimously last week to approve its Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).

Painting through the ages
      Local artist David Gill and students from Chester Middle School, including Patrick Knaggs, are painting a mural at the school depicting scenes from the Chester community. In 2011, the school will celebrate its 100th anniversary of being located at its current site.

Learn the "Legalities and Realities of Beach Week"
      A workshop on the "Legalities and Realities of Senior Beach Week" will be held Tues., Jan. 30, from 7-8:30 p.m., at Midlothian High School, 401 Charter Colony Drive. Parents of high school juniors and seniors concerned about the dangers of underage drinking and the safety of their teenage children who want to attend "Beach Week" are invited to attend this free workshop with their teens.

Meadowdale Library closes on Jan. 11
      In preparation for its demolition and the subsequent construction of a new library facility, the Meadowdale Library will close on Thurs., Jan. 11, at 9 p.m. An interim facility for the library is scheduled to open next to the Thomas Fulghum Center, 4003 Cogbill Road, on Mon., Feb. 12, at 10 a.m.

Recycle your Christmas tree
      Chesterfield residents can recycle their Christmas trees free through Fri., Feb. 2 at the county's North Area Transfer Station, 3200 Warbro Road, or the Southern Area Transfer Station, 6700 Landfill Road, off Iron Bridge Road. Transfer stations are open on weekdays, 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Sat., 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sun., 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Only trees with no decorations will be accepted.

A stage for everyone
      Three years ago, Kirsten Harmon of Chesterfield was a shy, self-conscious 11-year-old who hadn't considered acting in a play. Today, the 14-year-old steps onto the stage like a pro. What happened to bring about this change? Harmon's participation in Chesterfield Children's Theatre.
