Dollar General clerks thwart robbery attempt
At 10:55 p.m. on July 11 the suspect approached one of the clerks at the Dollar General store in Midlothian Crossing Shopping Center, 8550 Midlothian Tnpk., and demanded cash from the store. Though he was armed with a black handgun, the clerk ran to the office where another clerk was working, shut the door and locked them both inside. The suspect went to the door, striking it and demanding cash before leaving empty-handed. Someone fired shots into an occupied residence in the 9300 block on July 14, but no one was injured. Broadwater Road. The police went to a residence in the 3600 block at 6 p.m. on July 11 to find the door to the Broadwater townhouse ajar and the interior entirely vandalized. The owner was out of town. Celia Crescent. Someone attempted to enter the unlocked sliding glass door to a residence in the 1500 block after 2 a.m. on July 14, but the piece of wood in the running track only allowed the door to be opened a couple inches. Cracking open the sliding glass door set off the alarm and caused the dog to bark, scaring off the intruder. Center Street. The victim was riding his bike on July 11 at 5:50 p.m. in the 11800 block when the first suspect came up to him and pushed him to the ground. A second suspect, armed with a knife, approached the victim and told him to stay on the ground until they had left. The suspects then left with the victim's bike. Handel Court. Someone stole a 1992 white Mercury from the 5600 block on July 15. It was later found wrecked on Chippenham Parkway. Hull Street Road. The suspect robbed the cash register of the drive-thru window of the Hardee's in the Harbour Pointe Shopping Center at 9:40 p.m. on July 12. The suspect pushed in the window and punched buttons on the register until it opened. Sourwood Lane. The victim found several places in the woods behind his home in the 4500 block of the Treemont neighborhood where someone had set fires using trash. Statute Court. The victim's 1994 Plymouth van was stolen from the Courthouse Green Apartment parking lot on July 12. It had been left unlocked with the windows rolled down. Turner Road. Suspect(s) entered two locked classroom trailers at Chalkley Elementary School on July 14, spraying the inside of one with a fire extinguisher. Woodfield Road. Chesterfield police are investigating several juveniles in the neighborhood who apparently used heavy equipment to cause significant damage at a construction site in the 3900 block.
