Thieves steal converters from Jeff Davis businesses
Catalytic converters were stolen from 10 vehicles parked at two automotive businesses in the 5000 block of Jefferson Davis Highway over the weekend of Sept 8-9. "We have no suspect description or information," said police spokesperson Ann Reid. "Theft of auto parts is unfortunately not an uncommon crime. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call Crime Solvers at 748-0060." From Jan. 1 of this year through Sept. 11, there have been 26 incidents in which 27 catalytic converters have been stolen. About half the crimes reported in Chesterfield involve theft or rummaging through a vehicle - often from a vehicle that has been left unlocked. In other reported crimes: Bailey Bridge Road. The suspect(s) entered an unlocked school bus over the weekend of Sept. 8-9 and discharged a fire extinguisher inside the bus before taking the extinguisher. Boulders Parkway. The suspect(s) kicked in the front door of a residence in the Birchwood at Boulders Apartments in the 800 block and ransacked the interior. Several items were taken including food and jewelry. Chippendale Drive. The victim was talking on his cell phone on the patio of his apartment at Squire Hill Apartments at 9:45 p.m. on Sept. 8 when two suspects approached, armed with a knife, and demanded cash. The victim threw his wallet at them and attempted to run away. The suspects tackled the victim and then assaulted him until he was able to escape. Creek Way. The victim left a disabled 1996 Nissan Maxima in the 4000 block of the Ashton Creek Apartment parking lot on Mar. 1, and it was stolen on an unknown date. Drumvale Drive. The victim's 1999 Dodge Durango truck was taken from the 14000 block during the early morning hours of Sept. 4. East Hundred Road. At 7:20 p.m. on Sept. 9, the suspect was observed standing naked at a window in his residence in the Westover Farms Trailer Court masturbating. Genito Road. On Sept. 6 at 10:40 p.m., an employee was returning to the Pizza Hut in the 13600 block after making a delivery when an armed suspect forced him inside the restaurant. The suspect then ordered all of the employees to stand together while he took money from one employee and the cash register. Hull Street Road. Four hubcaps were stolen from a 1999 Nissan that was parked in the 13600 block from 1:30-6 p.m. on Sept. 8. Mallard Landing. The victim was inside her Mallard Cove apartment at 9 a.m. on Sept. 5 when the suspect's hand reached inside a window. Upon seeing the hand, the victim scared him off. The suspect had taken the screen off the open window. Ruffin Mill Road. The victim was driving his vehicle into a parking lot in the 2100 block on Sept. 7 at 3:50 p.m. when one of the suspects flagged him down, saying another man was giving away money. When the victim went over to check out what he had been told, he was jumped from behind, assaulted and robbed. |
