New homeowners' group asks supervisor candidates to take pledge on county's future
      The presidents of 15 homeowners' associations are asking board of supervisors candidates to sign a pledge that, if elected, they will favor overhauling the way Chesterfield County conducts business - particularly when it comes to residential and commercial development. The three-page written pledge has 23 yes or no commitments for each candidate to approve or disapprove.

Tech center holds 10th annual car show next month
      The Chesterfield Technical Center's SkillsUSA chapter will sponsor its 10th annual car show from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the Tractor Supply Co., 6801 Lake Harbour Dr. off Hull Street Road. Car clubs and individuals from across Virginia will display all types of vehicles, including classic cars, street rods, muscle cars, 4x4s and minitrucks. Admission is free.

Debate scheduled for Dale/ Clover Hill candidates
      Candidates for supervisor in Dale District and Clover Hill District will debate each other at the county chamber's October meeting. The luncheon meeting will be held at the Cultural Center of India, 6641 Ironbridge Pkwy., from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Oct. 11. The cost of the luncheon is $10, and reservations are required. Twenty arrested in prostitution sting on Jeff Davis Hwy.
      A prostitution sting on Jefferson Davis Highway on Sept. 6-7 netted 20 arrests. Most charges involved solicitation of prostitution and use of a vehicle to promote prostitution, but drug possession and concealed weapon charges were filed against some suspects.

Remembering 9/11
     Woodmen of the World and Ruritan Clubs Zone 4 hosted a September 11th Memorial Ceremony at Harry Daniel Park at Iron Bridge. Cub Scout Sean O'Donnell (above) and others showed their support during the ceremony. Special guests included Kelly Miller, chairman of the board of supervisors, and the Chesterfield County Police Color Guard. A permanent monument (left) stands behind the park's basketball courts.

Oktoberfest comes to Midlothian
      Members of the BMW Lions Club will host their first Oktoberfest in Midlothian on Sat., Oct. 13, from noon-4 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 901 Otterdale Rd. There will be German food, beer, wine, music and a German car show. The whole family is invited to attend to eat, play games, dance and socialize.
