New report shows conflicting data on the Swift Creek Reservoir
According to recently released data from 2006, the level of phosphorous in the Swift Creek Reservoir is almost as low as it's been since the county began keeping records in 1992. The development community is now using the data from last year to argue that stringent new water quality standards in the Upper Swift Creek Plan are unnecessary. More...
VSU, Fort Lee expansions re-energize village's revival

At the southernmost tip of Chesterfield County sits Ettrick, pop. 7,200. Home to Virginia State University (VSU), Ettrick is quiet, quaint - and in need of a facelift. Aging homes sit in disrepair, neighborhood streets want for aesthetic improvements, and the village's main thoroughfare, Chesterfield Avenue, could use a fresh influx of economic investment. More...

Last week, the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors directed the county attorney's office to draft ordinances and recommend other actions the county can take to discourage illegal immigrants from the living in Chesterfield. But county leaders admit the real authority to enforce immigration laws rests with the federal and state governments. More...

No more storage
My next house is not going to have any storage space. I won't even put in bookshelves or cupboards. The kitchen will have the minimum. The bedrooms will have small closets. No hutches, trunks or chests of drawers. Given an empty space I feel compelled to fill it. That is almost a direct quote from my other half. I disagree with the compelled part. More...

Chesterfield County runners prepare for 30th Annual SunTrust Richmond Marathon
More than 5,000 runners will respond to the starting gun at the 30th Annual SunTrust Richmond Marathon on Nov. 10. Realistically, only a couple of dozen entrants have a legitimate chance of winning the 26.2-mile run. Most - like Chesterfield County's Larry Brock, Chris Nicolaides and Beena Parekn - make the run through Richmond just to claim their own personal victory. More...
