County seniors were encouraged to keep physically and mentally active during last week's Active Aging Week celebration. The Chesterfield Partnership for Successful Aging offered free activities throughout the week including a Kickoff Rally and Open House at the Chester YMCA. During the YMCA event, Mike Weeks (above) taught seniors the basics of line dancing, Dianne Hill (left) kicked up her heels during Weeks' demonstration, and Cindy Angus (below), the Chester YMCA's wellness director, gave a presentation on healthy lifestyles. More ... The Shepherd's Center of Chesterfield recently kicked off its fall Adventures in Learning Program. Members can take any or all classes for only $15. Non-members pay only $25 for the full term. New courses include chair Tai Chi, a book discussion group of C.S. Lewis' "The Screwtape Letters," woodcarving, gardening, travelogue and personal defense.
