      What could be the largest planned community in the Richmond metro goes to the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors this week following a setback last week by the planning commission. On a 3-1-1 vote, the commission recommended denial of the huge mixed-use development at the Woolridge Road exit off Route 288.

Lucy Corr will exhibit the work of local artists
      The Arts Committee of Lucy Corr Foundation recently announced the fall schedule of local artists' exhibits displayed in the common areas of the Health Care Center of Lucy Corr Village. Chester artist Terry Lacy will display her pastels and watercolors through the end of this month.

Planning commission rejects use of impact fees

      So far, only the county staff is recommending using impact fees to raise $45-$50 million to improve county roads. Last week, the Chesterfield Planning Commission unanimously recommended against enacting the fees after a committee set up by the county board also rejected them.

      The Chesterfield Commonwealth's Attorney's Office has been asked to head up an investigation into whether the chairman of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors violated the law by using funds from that county for a postcard mailing to constituents.

Health department schedules flu shot clinics
      The Chesterfield County Health Department will hold two influenza-vaccination clinics for adults ages 19 and older. The clinics, which will be by appointment only, will be held in the multipurpose room of the Smith-Wagner Building, 9501 Lucy Corr Circle, on Tues., Oct. 30, from 9 a.m.-noon, and Wed., Nov. 14, from 2-7 p.m.

CJW breaks ground on cancer hospital
      CJW Medical Center broke ground last week for the new Thomas Johns Cancer Hospital on its Johnston-Willis campus. The 50,000-square-foot expansion project will be the most sophisticated, fully integrated hospital under one roof in metro Richmond, according to Peter Marmerstein, CEO of CJW Medical Center.
