      Dear Editor, Today I had a message on my answering machine about the survey on the [Chesterfield County Public Schools'] Web site. The school board is considering lengthening the school day to allow the teaching of 21st century skills along with the Virginia Standards of Learning.

Two Midlothian residents stand up for Shewmake
Dear Editor,
      It is apparent from reading Larry Miller's letter to the editor [Jan. 10] that he doesn't know Will Shewmake, and he is oblivious to all Will has done for Midlothian. As I understand it, Mr. Miller lives at the other end of the county. I doubt he has ever spoken with Will.
