ANNOUNCEMENTS National PTA President Anna Marie Weselak will visit Bailey Bridge Middle School on Feb. 15 to present a check for $1,897 to the school's PTA in connection with "Take Your Family to School Week." The school is the only one in Virginia to win a cash award this year. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. and includes a barbecue dinner, remarks by Weselak, information sessions on how Bailey Bridge incorporates technology into the curriculum, tours of the school library and storytelling for younger children. Matoaca Supervisor Renny Humphrey will cut the ribbon for the grand opening of the new Babies "R" Us on Feb. 16 at 9 a.m. The store is located in the Village at Swift Creek at 13315 Rittenhouse Road. For more information, call 706-1827. Dwayne Gibson, restaurant manager at the McDonald's on Huguenot Road, has been named a 2007 Ray Kroc Award winner. The award is given to the top one percent of managers in the nation by McDonald's annually. Gibson receives a $2,500 cash award, a Ray Kroc Award trophy, and recognition at an awards banquet in Chicago later this year. The One Way Street Regional Puppetry Training Festival will be held March 2-3 at Richmond Southside Church of the Nazarene, 6851 Courthouse Road, to teach the art of puppetry and other creative performance arts. The tournament will bring 200 teams to the area, including 3,000 girls under the age of 16. Games will be played at L.C. Bird High School's athletic complex, the Harry G.
