Public meeting to discuss county water supply plan

Water supply public meeting, Mon., Apr. 23, 7 p.m., Chesterfield County Public Meeting Room, 9901 Lori Rd. The Chesterfield County Department of Utilities will host a public meeting to present preliminary findings of the water supply plan and elicit comments on the projections of future water usage and alternatives and strategies for managing the future of water resources. "Celebrating 400 Years of Bloom" flower show, 1-7 p.m., Episcopal Church of the Redeemer Parish Hall, 2341 Winterfield Rd. (corner of Salisbury and Winterfield Roads). "Celebrating Virginia" flower show and home tour, 2-6 p.m. Horticulture and petite exhibits will be at Wrexham Hall while three private homes will be open for viewing. Complementary tea time will be at Magnolia Grange from 2:30-5:30 p.m. Monies raised will be used for civic beautification of Chester. Donation is $15. Sponsored by the Chester Garden Club. Staff from the Commissioner of the Revenue's office, Planning Department, Public Safety Utilities Department and Economic Development will speak about services available to county businesses as well as business taxes, Enterprise Zone incentives permits and zoning. Textbook review, during school hours through Apr. 24 at all county high schools. Chesterfield County Public Schools plans to replace the textbooks used in visual arts courses in high schools and is seeking community input. Parents and other community members may visit a high school to review the books and fill out evaluation forms for the textbook review committee. A recommendation on which visual arts textbooks to adopt will go before the Chesterfield County School Board on May 8. Students will use the new textbooks starting in September.

"Breakfast with the Pros," 7:15 a.m., Holiday Inn Select Koger Center, 1021 Koger Center Blvd. "Financial Fitness for a Small Business" will be the topic. Admission is $20 for Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce members and $30 for future members. For more information, or to RSVP, call 748-6364.

Gates Elementary School and Applebee's are sponsoring breakfast in memory of Anthony "Tai" Nguyen, who was recently killed during a fire at his family's home. Tickets will be $7 per person at the door (additional donations are encouraged). All proceeds will benefit Tai's mother and sister, who were also injured during the fire. Undokai Japanese Sports Festival, 10 a.m., Clover Hill High School, 13900 Hull Street Rd.
