CYSA plans Opening Day this Saturday

The Chesterfield Youth Softball Association (CYSA), a softball league made up of 150 girls' fast/slow softball teams, will hold its Opening Day ceremony on Sat., Apr. 21 from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. at the L.C. Bird High School Sports Complex.

This year, there will be a special ceremony at 11:30 a.m. to dedicate the softball complex to Mildred Burrell, one of CYSA's longtime leaders.

A groundbreaking ceremony for a ball field that's being built for special needs children will take place at 12:30 p.m. (see story on front page).

Approximately 100 teams comprised of about 1,200 girls will play exhibition softball games throughout the day. There will also be rides and exhibits.
