Online sexual predator investigation nets nine arrests

A two-month undercover operation by Chesterfield police that targeted Internet sexual predators has resulted in the arrest of nine men who now collectively face 40 charges.

Police investigators posed as girls or boys under the age of 18 and chatted online with the suspects between Apr. 2 and June 1. Seven of the men arranged meetings at area locations with the undercover detectives posing as teens and were arrested onsite. One man was arrested at his workplace in Charlotte, N.C., and one man was arrested at his area home.

Charges include use of a communication device to solicit sex from a minor, attempted indecent liberties with a minor, distribution of child pornography, and distribution of obscene material.

Those arrested are: + James R. O'Brien, 61, of the 11200 block of Abingdon Court in Chesterfield. + Richard L. Young, 43, of the 9000 block of Water Oak Court in Chesterfield. + Burdette A. Burgess Jr., 57, of the 8400 block of Lockhart Road in Chesterfield. + Christopher A. Swartzwelder, 24, of the 200 block of Airport Place in Highland Springs. + Lee J. Schwarz, 28, of the 3500 block of Corum Drive in Richmond. + Christopher R. Jones, 24, of the 18000 block of Bonneville Lane in Dinwiddie. + Jamaica W. Williams, 29, of the 1100 block of Bolling Avenue in Norfolk. + Ivan D. Lingle, 52, of the 700 block of Glen Cove Drive in Ruther Glen. + Douglas M. Allen, 31, of the 10300 block of Billingham Drive in Charlotte, N.C.
