Tubbs wins Republican nod for Matoaca District

Mark Tubbs eked out a narrow victory over Kevin Salminen by just 25 votes in last week's Republican caucus vote, 347-322. Republican Tubbs will face the winner of this week's Democratic primary and two Independents - Marleen Durfee and Eli Jones - this November.

"We'll take a pause for a couple of weeks before moving ahead to the fall campaign," Tubbs said.

The Matoaca supervisor seat became open when incumbent Republican Renny Humphrey decided not to run for a fourth term.

All four supervisor candidates for Matoaca District will be invited to candidate debates at Cosby High School. The Chesterfield County Chamber of Commerce debate is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 17, and the Chesterfield Business Council debate is Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
