Event highlights Chesterfield's role in the Civil War

The Chesterfield County Department of Parks and Recreation, in partnership with the Chesterfield Historical Society of Virginia, will present, "The Civil War in Chesterfield County," on Sat., June 30, from 11 a.m.-noon, at the Chesterfield County Museum. This program will feature historical society member Scott Williams, who will discuss the numerous military engagements that took place in the county during the Civil War and the impact the war had on the community. The program is free and open to the public.

While at the museum, visitors are encouraged to view a permanent exhibit spotlighting 400 years of history in Chesterfield County. The museum is open Tues.-Fri., 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. through Labor Day. For more information, call 751-4946.
