More on Jaeckle's Bermuda District victory

Dear Editor,

I too read with amusement Supervisor King's comments concerning Mr. [Jack] Wilson's losing effort [in the Bermuda Republican primary]. I haven't voted Democratic since my much regretted vote for Jimmy Carter, but considering the mess the current crop on the board has made, I feel I have one more Big D vote left in me.

Also, on the Greenacres rezoning article and the planner's comment that Carrie Coyner was "becoming the go-to-person on rezonings." Isn't it amazing what can be accomplished when the planners and the board listen to the citizens (as opposed to just approving everything that comes to them), and the attorneys are forced to make compromises that are actually meaningful to the ones most affected?

Dear Editor,

In their sour-grapes analysis of Dorothy Jaeckle's win over Jack Wilson in the Bermuda District Board of Supervisors Republican primary, [Supervisor] Dickie King and [Commissioner] Sherman Litton were pitifully incorrect. Their ridiculous conspiracy theory - that Democrats and Independents won the race for Jaeckle - was shallow and knee-jerk.

Too bad that a couple of local GOP "leaders" such as King and Litton are too out of touch to realize that Dorothy Jaeckle was the best candidate, period. Too bad King and Litton didn't take the loss of their candidate with class and dignity, and pledge to support the people's choice instead of conjuring up a lame excuse as to why their guy lost. Too bad the Chesterfield Observer didn't contact any of us (say, in an exit poll interview) to report firsthand why we backed Jaeckle.
