County hosts softball tournament

Chesterfield County will host the 2007 National Softball Association Eastern "B" Girls Fast Pitch World Series on July 22-29. About 200 teams from the east coast are expected to converge on ball fields at the L.C. Bird High School Athletic Complex, the Harry G. Daniel Park at Iron Bridge and other locations during the weeklong tournament.

The event is expected to generate more than $42,000 in revenue for the county, filling around 1,500 hotel rooms and generating about 15,000 meals per day for restaurants.
