Chesterfield Co. Fair opens nine-day run on Aug. 24

The 94th Chesterfield County Fair will be held at the county fairgrounds, located at the intersection of Courthouse and Krause roads, on Fri., Aug. 24-Sat., Sept. 1. The nine-day event is the longest running activity in the county and is one of the largest paid attractions. Fair hours will be from 4-11 p.m. on weekdays, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. on Saturdays and on Sunday, 1-11 p.m.

Jolly Shows will again provide nearly 40 midway rides and games this year. There will be four unlimited ride "wristband" days on Aug. 27-30. Wristbands will cost $18 per person or only $15 with a $3 discount coupon that is being distributed by Uppy's Exxon and BP convenience stores in the area.

Daily activities include bingo, racing pigs, ducks and goats, the Lambeth's Petting Zoo, pony rides, a Kiddie Land Play Area and activities, barrel train rides, and exhibits of antique tractors and farm equipment. The popular mechanical bull ride is returning along with a model train display, a Civil War display and a magic show.

The grandstand will offer a variety of live music and shows by local and regional entertainers. All performances are included in the price of the daily general admission ticket.

Tickets cost $6 for adults (ages 13 and up) and $3 for seniors (ages 60 and up) and children (ages 6-12). Children under age 6 will be admitted free. Tickets will be sold daily at the fairground's gates.
