Job-readiness program needs additional volunteers

The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Department of Social Services is looking for volunteers to work with participants in its VIEW program. VIEW stands for Virginia Initiative for Employment not Welfare, and is also known as Welfare Reform.

The program teaches job-readiness skills to adults who wish to re-enter the workforce or who are entering the workforce for the first time. The main goal is to assist welfare recipients in finding, obtaining and keeping jobs.

Volunteers are needed to serve as tutors, drivers or mentors, helping VIEW participants achieve their job search goals. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

For more information, call VIEW Volunteer Coordinator Laura Doyle at 706-7655.
