County fair offers a little something for everyone

The 94th Annual Chesterfield County Fair, Aug. 24 through Sept. 1, Mon.- Fri., 4-11 p.m., Sat., 11 a.m.-11 p.m., Sun., 1-11 p.m., Chesterfield County Fairgrounds, 10300 Courthouse Rd. Midway rides, exhibits, music, food and fun. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for seniors (ages 60 and over) and children (6-12 years old), and free for children ages 5 and under. Thurs., Aug. 23

Resume Writing Workshop, 6:30-8 p.m., Ettrick Community Building, 20400 Laurel Rd. Get tips on how to write an effective resume and cover letter, learn resume do's and don'ts, and find out what employers are looking for. For ages 18 and older. Pocahontas Premieres' concert, 6 p.m., Heritage Amphitheater, Pocahontas State Park, 10301 State Park Rd. Page Wilson and Reckless Abandon will perform "Page Wilson's Out O' the Blue Stage Revue." Terry Garland, Bruce Couson and the Janet Martin Band also will perform. Tickets are $7 in advance, $10 day of the show. Kids 12 and under are free. Parking is $4. VMFA Summer Interlude Concert series, 3 p.m., Bon Air Presbyterian Church, 9201 W. Huguenot Rd. The Richmond Chamber Players will perform selections from Albert Roussel, Igor Stravinsky and Bela Bartok. Tickets are $16 (museum members, seniors, students, $14, students under 18, free.) Annual Ice Cream Social, 7 p.m., Great Hall, Chester Baptist Church, 4317 School St. Sponsored by the Shepherd's Center of Chesterfield. Participants will get a sneak preview at what's coming up in this fall's session of Adventures in Learning, and will have the opportunity to meet class instructors. Free.
