Parents are asked to share views with school audit team Parents of children who attend county schools are invited to participate in an audit by Phi Delta Kappa International. The audit will measure the Chesterfield school system against international standards for curriculum and for areas that support curriculum, such as budget and personnel services. The auditors are currently reviewing documents and preparing to visit Chesterfield County Public Schools. Their Sept. 24-28 visit will include interviews with a variety of school employees, visits to schools and focus group sessions with advisory groups. Parent input is important for the audit. The audit team has already received information from an Aug. 14 public engagement session that included parents, teens and community members. Parents are also invited to speak one-on-one with an audit team member from 4:45-5:30 p.m. on Sept. 26 at the Instruction Division Center, 600 Southlake Blvd., to discuss how they regard the school system, what the school system is doing well, what it should de-emphasize and whether Chesterfield schools are positioned to prepare students for the 21st century. Parents who would like to speak with an audit team member are asked to RSVP to 748-1405. Parents may also e-mail the audit team at ccpsinfo@ccpsnet.net or may write to Audit Team, c/o Community Relations Department, Chesterfield County Public Schools, P.O. Box 10, Chesterfield, VA 23832. Letters marked "confidential" will be sent unopened to the audit team. |
