Local leaders are invited to become Principal for a Day

On Oct. 4, many Chesterfield schools will temporarily have new principals. That's the day that leaders in business, government and the community may become Principal for a Day.

Sponsored by Chesterfield County Public Schools and the Chesterfield Business Council of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce, Principal for a Day offers community and business leaders a chance to collaborate with school staff members and students and gain a better understanding of the challenges facing public education.

Principals for a Day will shadow an elementary, middle or high school principal for at least half a day to gain insight into leadership experiences during a typical school day. Temporary principals may observe or participate in activities such as patrolling the building and grounds, supervising morning bus duty, making morning announcements, performing classroom walk-throughs, responding to crises and sitting in on conferences, phone calls and meetings.

Those wishing to be a Principal for a Day need not be a member of the Chesterfield Business Council but must be a member of the business or government community or must be a leader in the community.
