School system revises Web site and publications

To better communicate with the community, Chesterfield County Public Schools (CCPS) has revised its parent handbook, published an annual report for the first time in several years and redesigned its Web site.

The family of every CCPS student recently received a parent handbook, which contains the school calendar, school phone numbers, details about how schools operate and other helpful information. This year's parent handbook, which is an annual publication, features art by 19 Chesterfield students and a new format.

Along with the parent handbook, families received something else new this year - an annual report for the previous school year. The annual report was also mailed to senior adults throughout the county and is available in schools and libraries. It includes details about the Design for Excellence strategic plan, accomplishments for 2006-07, frequently called phone numbers and a profile of CCPS.

Online versions of the annual report and the parent handbook can be found on the new CCPS Web site at www.chesterfield.k12.va.us.

The new Web site went live at the end of August and is full of information for parents, students and community members. Additions include a blog by Superintendent Marcus Newsome, an overview of academic programs, photos of Chesterfield students and an expanded news section. Also online are school system publications, curriculum details, links to school Web sites, improved information about school board activities, job openings, events and names of school system administrators.
