Chamber to offer Spanish classes

The Chesterfield County Chamber of Commerce will offer a 10-week Beginner's Conversational Spanish Class for business professionals starting in January at L.C. Bird High School, located at 10301 Courthouse Rd. The class will meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Students will learn practical phrases to help them better understand and communicate with customers, employees and members of the growing Latino community. They will learn how to meet and greet people, how to use numbers, how to tell time, and to understand what is being said to them in Spanish. The instructor will even work with students individually to translate industry-specific terminology.

The chamber will also offer a 10-week Advanced Conversational Spanish Class beginning in January at L.C. Bird High School. The class will meet weekly on Monday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. This class is ideal for students who have completed the chamber's Beginners' Conversational Spanish Class.

An end-of-course graduation party will mark the accomplishments of both classes. The cost of either course is $200 for chamber members and $225 for non-members and includes the textbook. Call 748-6364 to register or for more details.
