Practice your fire escape plan this week

The Chesterfield County Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services is recognizing Fire Prevention Week this week through Oct. 13. This year's theme is "Practice Your Escape Plan," emphasizing the importance of fire escape plans in preventing fire deaths in the home.

The following activities will be held in observance of Fire Prevention Week later this month:

• Sun., Oct. 14, 1-5 p.m. - Company 4 (Bon Air) will hold an open house.

• Sat., Oct. 20, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. - Company 5 (Midlothian) will hold an open house in conjunction with Midlothian Village Day.

• Sat., Oct. 20, 12-4 p.m. - Company 13 (Phillips) will hold an open house in conjunction with its Fall Fire Prevention Festival.
