Explosive device blows up in high school parking lot

Chesterfield police are asking for information on who detonated a homemade explosive at 10:38 p.m. on Oct. 6 in the L.C. Bird High School parking lot. Nothing was damaged, and no one was hurt.

Police spokesperson Ann Reid said the department doesn't have any leads. Those with information are asked to call 796-7032 or Crime Solvers at 748-0660.

In other reported crimes:

New Bermuda elementary/middle school complex. Sometime between Oct. 5-8 someone entered multiple trailers at the construction site and vandalized the interiors.

Court Street. The victim was with two friends at 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 4 in the 21500 block in Ettrick when the two suspects approached. Armed with a handgun, the victim was ordered to "empty your pockets." With his money and other items in hand, the suspects ran off.

Gills Gate Drive. One of the victims in the residence in the 6500 block heard a noise at 7:50 p.m. on Oct. 5 and went to investigate. The victim screamed after seeing a pair of hands come through the window. Startled, the suspects ran off.

Harvette Drive. When the pizza delivery person arrived at a residence in the 3900 block at 8:20 p.m. on Oct 3, three suspects came around from the side of the building. One suspect grabbed the pizza before he and the others ran to a vehicle and drove off.

Lamplighter Court. The masked suspects came upon the first victim as he was cleaning out his vehicle in the 4200 block. They struck him in the head with one of their guns and took his property before running off. They then took money from a second victim who was putting his child into a car seat before running into the woods near the Belmont Parkway Apartments.

Marina Drive. Someone took a .45 caliber semiautomatic handgun from a 1990 Oldsmobile parked in the 3100 block of Falling Creek Apartments on Sept. 28-29.

Meadowdale Boulevard. Someone broke a window using a rock to get into one of the Regency Lake apartments late last month, but the break-in wasn't reported until Oct. 6. The interior was ransacked, and several items were taken.

Old Buckingham Road. A 2000 Honda was stolen from a residence in the 11800 block on Oct. 7 and later recovered in Richmond. The vehicle had been stripped.

West Hundred Road. At 10:20 p.m. on Oct. 4, the victim noticed someone rummaging through his truck, which was parked at the Days Inn in Chester. He yelled at the suspect, and the suspect ran to a waiting vehicle with another suspect inside. They then drove off, taking the victim's money.
