Group isn't responding to illegal labor question Dear Editor, Tyler Craddock's attack on me in your letters to the editor section [Sept. 26] without answering the initial question is, unfortunately, a common practice today when someone wishes to ignore the facts. The fact is he cannot tell us that the members of the Home Building Association of Richmond are not using illegal labor. This was brought out in the Chesterfield Observer article that estimated that new home prices would rise 12-14 percent if illegal immigrants were not providing underpriced labor. He then went on to tell us all about the various measures his organization supports. However, I have to think back to a preacher I knew years ago who would often tell me that you can see what a person really believes not by listening to their words, but by watching their actions. And what actions do we see? We see the builders profiting by breaking the law using illegal workers and letting the citizens pay for the consequences.
