Ashbrook Lake dredging

Dear Editor,

Regarding phosphorous limits for the Swift Creek Reservoir [Oct. 3], they are definitely needed. Also with current low water [levels] after a mild drought, it's clear the reservoir's amount of water is critical, too. The county shouldn't consider dredging Ashbrook Lake to bring down levels of phosphorous. In our neighborhood, the county has allowed the oversized Wal-Mart development on Route 360. It has also considered condominiums near Lakepointe, right across the highway and adjoining the reservoir's shore.

Plans must be made to keep areas bordering the reservoir free of building to protect our drinking water. How about a small park in our area instead? The county has provided no parks in our well-populated area and now threatens our lakefront.
