Want transit, shorter commutes, safer roads? How do transportation projects get started, and most importantly, how do they get completed in our region? It's a long process, and it has to start somewhere. That starting point for future projects is now here. The Richmond region's Long-Range Transportation Plan is the official document that outlines where the area wants to be in the next 20 years. Because transportation has a direct cause and effect relationship affecting everyone's daily lives on issues such as safety, affordable housing, air quality and basic quality of life issues, the Richmond Area Metropolitan Planning Organization RAMPO), which is comprised of all localities in the region, needs citizens to weigh-in on what they want for the region. In order to accomplish this, RAMPO is having an open house for public comment on Sat., Nov. 17, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at 9211 Forest Hill Avenue, Suite 200. Citizens can stop by for a brief visit in order to review the upcoming plan, fill out a survey and provide feedback. For those unable to attend the public meeting, the survey is also available online at www.richmondregional.org and can be completed and mailed to RAMPO. |
