Cosby Titan Band to perform holiday music The Cosby Titan Band will present a holiday concert on Thurs., Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cosby Theater. All seats are $5. The 90-member Titan Band, Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble will be featured in this concert. The show should run about one hour, and a reception will follow in the school commons. A wide variety of musical selections will be covered, including "The Black Horse Troop March" by Sousa, "Serenade" from the English Country Settings by LaPlante, "March, Seventeen Come Sunday" by Vaughn Williams, "To Dance in the Secret Garden" by Robert W. Smith, "Sleigh Ride" by Leroy Anderson, "Traditions of Christmas" as recorded by the Mannheim Steamroller, and "A Fantasy of Carols" arranged by Jay Bocook. The Jazz Ensemble will perform some classic big-band styled selections. In only its second year of existence, the Titan Band has amassed an impressive history. The band earned a rating of "superior" at the state concert festival last year and earned a rating of "excellent" at the state marching festival in October. The band also performed by invitation at a home game for the University of Richmond. Members will travel to Orlando this April to perform in the Dreams Come True Parade at Walt Disney World. |
