Burglary suspect arrested

County police have arrested a man wanted in connection with more than 15 countywide commercial burglaries and two vehicle thefts. Police believe the suspect may be responsible for similar crimes throughout the Richmond metro.

The suspect gained entry to the establishments at night by smashing glass exterior doors and stole cash or cash stole cash or cash registers. Business owners have incurred more than $10,000 in estimated damages.

Curtis M. Hutchison, 22, of no current address, is charged with breaking and entering, grand larceny and motor-vehicle theft. He is being held without bond pending a hearing in Chesterfield County General District Court.

Detectives are working in conjunction with the Henrico County Police Department, Colonial Heights Police Department and the Hanover County Sheriff's Office to investigate Hutchison's possible involvement in other crimes.

Counterfeit movies discovered

A 40-year-old county man has been arrested for possessing counterfeit movies and music. According to police, Barry L. Taylor, of the 100 block of W. Blake Lane, was charged with "selling or renting an unlawful recording device" after officers discovered counterfeit DVDs and CDs in his vehicle during a traffic stop on Nov. 22.

House fire claims life

A 60-year-old man died last week as a result of injuries he sustained in a house fire. According to reports, the Chesterfield County Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a fire at a single-family apartment at 16413 Jefferson Davis Hwy. on Dec. 3 at 8:53 p.m. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and a small amount of fire.

The fire claimed the life of Aubrey Dickson, who passed away after being transported to Southside Regional Medical Center. The home sustained moderate damage.

The fire was caused by a cigarette that wasn't properly discarded.

Body found in hotel

The body of 40-year-old Zaundra Z. Gray, of the 10000 block of Garfield Road in Richmond, was discovered on Nov. 30 on a stairwell at InTown Suites, 11551 Green Spring Rd. According to police, a hotel employee found Gray shortly after 7 a.m. and called police.

Police continue to investigate Gray's death. Anyone with information should contact the Chesterfield County Police Department at 748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 748-0660.

Woman robs bank

An unidentified woman robbed the BB&T bank branch at 12840 Jefferson Davis Hwy. shortly before 10:45 a.m. on Dec. 4. No one was injured during the robbery.

Police said the woman entered the bank, approached a teller and then presented a note that demanded money. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is described as a black female between 25-35 years old. She wore a gray hooded sweatshirt underneath a dark coat.

Chester Shoney's robbed

Police are searching for a man who robbed the Shoney's restaurant on Jefferson Davis Highway in Chester at 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 4. No one was injured during the incident.

Police said the man approached an employee at the cash register, indicated he had a gun and demanded money. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect is a slender white male, 25-26 years old and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He has short, brown hair and was unshaven. The suspect wore a hooded, black coat, jeans and a stocking hat.
