Support for Warren and Durfee

Dear Editor,

Marleen Durfee, vice chairman of the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors!

When the board convenes its first meeting in 2008, two votes should be both obvious and earned. First, Art Warren has earned selection by his colleagues as chairman for 2008. As the only supervisor for the 2008-2011 term with experience on the board, he is the only logical choice for chairman.

Second, Matoaca District has lacked quality leadership and responsive representation for several years. With the size of her election in a four-person race on Nov. 6, Durfee has earned selection as vice chairman and ascension to the chairman's position in 2009. Many issues that Durfee and other citizens in the Matoaca District, and throughout Chesterfield County, have fought for years were the focal points of the most recent elections.

Additionally, Warren and Durfee have established a good working relationship over the last several years and would form a good, united "team" at the head of the board.

To those exiting the board on Dec. 31, thanks for your service to Chesterfield County. On Nov. 6, the voters expressed their thoughts regarding your leadership and the manner in which Chesterfield County business was conducted on your watch. The results of Nov. 6 could not be more clear or convincing!

May the families of those exiting and those entering service on the Chesterfield Board of Supervisors enjoy a happy holiday season in 2007 and many years to come.

Bob Herndon
