Commission seeks information on proposed buildings
      The planning commission pressed school officials last week to be more specific on where and when new schools are needed in the county. Commissioners are awaiting the information so they can develop an adequate public facilities (APF) plan, which will be used as a guide when seeking funding in the 2012 referendum.

      The Chesterfield County Department of Youth Planning and Development is seeking nominations for the 25th Annual Outstanding Youth Awards. Both adults and youths who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to their communities, neighborhoods or schools are eligible. The deadline for nominations is Fri., Mar. 21, at 5 p.m.

Student inspires classmates to participate in muscular dystrophy event
      Ten-year-old Rebecca Denius may not have walked the red carpet last year, but she definitely earned celebrity status. The Greenfield Elementary School student's courageous story was featured on the 2007 Jerry Lewis Telethon, and she was voted Virginia's Muscular Dystrophy Goodwill Ambassador for 2008.
