Robbers continue targeting apartment communities

Four teenagers were recently arrested after assaulting and robbing a man in the Falling Creek Apartments complex. According to reports, a man was talking on his cell phone outside his home in the 2100 block of Marina Drive on May 29 at about 10 p.m. when the four teens approached him. One of them grabbed him from behind, causing him to drop his phone.

The victim tried to defend himself as he was assaulted by the teens. After the victim was robbed of his phone, he ran away. The four assailants also ran. Other people in the parking lot saw the incident and chased the assailants.

County police officers responding to the call caught all four suspects and took them into custody. Naim K. Watson, 19, of the 6100 block of Keydet Court, Siedah N. Winston, 19, of the 3100 block of Meadowdale Blvd., Charles E. Richardson, 18, of the 3200 block of Meadowdale Blvd., and a 16-year-old juvenile were charged with robbery in this incident.

In other crime reports:

Beginner's Trail Lane. Between 4:30 p.m. on May 30 and 6 a.m. on June 2 someone entered a school bus, which was parked in the 800 block at Elizabeth Scott Elementary School, and took a fire extinguisher.

Belasco Drive. At about 5:40 p.m. on June 1, a man was talking on his cell phone in the parking lot in the 7700 block at the Roxbury Square Apartments when someone in a car stopped, got out of the car holding a handgun and demanded the man's wallet. The victim didn't immediately comply, but handed over his wallet when the gun was pointed at his face. The suspect got back into his car with the wallet and drove away.

Centralia Road. Shortly after midnight on May 30, the front glass door was broken out of the Spencer's store in the 5100 block. Two juveniles were caught trying to get into the store.

Courthouse Road. Sometime between 5 p.m. on May 30 and 7:45 a.m. on June 1, someone entered the office of Emerald Homes in the 4100 block. There were no signs of forcible entry. Many items in the office were moved around, and property was stolen.

Edgewood Drive. At about 1 a.m. on May 28, a man found the front screen door and the siding on the front of his house in the 15900 block had been damaged by shotgun pellets or birdshot. Though the homeowner was sleeping in the house at the time the damage occurred, he did not hear anything unusual.

Genito Road. Sometime between 8 a.m. on Jan. 1 and 11:30 a.m. on May 28, five Smart Tags were stolen from company trucks parked at Smart's Towing in the 12900 block.

Jefferson Davis Highway. Between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on May 31, someone entered Chesterfield Trading Company in the 9500 block and took items that were later found outside the property's fence.

Kingston Avenue. On May 28 between 1:15 a.m. and 5 p.m., someone cut the wires on the ignition box under the steering column of a car parked in the 12700 block.

Marbrett Drive. At about 5:30 p.m. on May 30, someone holding a handgun approached people who were sitting in a car in a parking lot at Tivoli South Apartments in the 7500 block and demanded their property. After taking the victims' wallets, the suspect got into the passenger side of another car and left the area.

Midlothian Turnpike. Between 8 a.m. on May 24 and 6:45 p.m. on June 3, license plates were stolen from a car parked in the 10900 block.

• At about 1 p.m. on May 30, a male called Midlothian Middle School in the 13500 block and stated there was a bomb inside the school. A search of the school revealed no bomb.

Quail Hill Drive. Between 11 p.m. on May 27 and noon on May 28, license plates were stolen from a car parked in the driveway of the owner's home in the 3100 block.

Tanner's Way. At about 9:30 p.m. on May 27, a woman pulled into a parking space in the 3100 block at the Rollingwood Apartments. A man approached her car and pointed a small handgun at her. He then reached into her car, took her purse and ran away.

Turner Road. At about 2 a.m. on June 2, someone wearing a mask and wielding a large knife entered a 7-Eleven store in the 100 block and demanded cash and food items. Once the demand was met, the person ran from the store, heading south.

W. Hundred Road. Between 8 a.m. on May 31 and 1 p.m. on June 1, someone cut a hole in the chain-link fence surrounding Rudy Hawkins Electric in the 600 block and stole copper wire. Locks were cut and removed from six storage containers kept inside the fenced area, but nothing seemed to be missing from them.
