Intruders chase victim for valuables

CRIME WATCH

Imagine you're sitting in your living room when two people you don't know suddenly appear outside your apartment's sliding-glass door. One of them is holding a gun. Next thing you know, they've shattered the glass and walked right into your home.

That's what happened to residents of the Regency Lake Apartments in the 3300 block of Meadowdale Boulevard at about 9 p.m. on July 9.

The intruders chased one of the residents through the apartment. Once they caught him, they demanded his cash and other valuables. The man gave up his property, and the intruders left the apartment. No one was hurt.

The only description of the suspects is that they are both black males. Anyone with information about this crime should call county police at 748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 748-0660.

In other crimes:

Clovertree Court. A man was shot in the leg at a residence in the 7900 block at about 2:40 a.m. on July 13.

Commons Plaza. Employees arrived at the Great Clips salon in the 7000 block at the Courthouse Commons shopping center at about 8:50 a.m. on July 10 to find someone had broken glass in the rear door sometime during the previous evening to enter the business. The door was left open. Money and other property were stolen.

Florence Avenue. Between 9 p.m. on July 13 and 8 a.m. on July 14, keys were stolen from a pickup truck parked in a resident's driveway in the 1600 block.

Jefferson Davis Highway. At about 4:20 p.m. on July 11, someone used a device to attempt to steal money from the change machine outside Express Auto in the 9700 block.

Lancer's Boulevard. Between 9 p.m. on July 9 and 9:30 a.m. on July 10, someone stole a copper water tank from outside a residence in the 2800 block.

Meadowdale Boulevard. Between 6:45 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. on July 13, a locked slidingglass door at the rear of a residence at the Regency Lake Apartments was pushed off its track from the outside. Someone entered the home, ransacked two bedrooms, the living room and kitchen, and stole electronics.

Midlothian Turnpike. Between 8 a.m. on May 14 and 8 a.m. on May 29, someone stole property from a car in the parking lot of the Forestview Volunteer Rescue Squad in the 8000 block.

• Checks were stolen from a checkbook stored in the glove compartment of a car parked in the 11800 block sometime between 5 p.m. on July 1 and 5 p.m. on July 9.

• A cement mixer was stolen from a construction site in the 15500 block sometime between 7 a.m. on July 1 and 12:30 p.m. on July 11.

Muirfield Green Drive. Just before 2 a.m. on July 10, someone rummaged through several cars parked in the 3700 block. It is unclear whether anything was stolen.

Parrish Creek Lane. Between 4 p.m. on July 11 and 7 a.m. on July 12, vinyl siding was stolen from a construction site in the 11700 block.

S. Chester Road. Sometime between 5 p.m. on July 12 and 7 a.m. on July 14, someone broke into C.C. Wells Elementary School in the 13100 block. There were no signs of force. Money, jewelry and electronics were taken.

Willis Road. At about 5 a.m. on July 13, people were inside a hotel room at the V.I.P. Inn in the 2300 block when two strangers entered their room. One intruder, who had a gun, demanded the occupants' valuables. The other suspect, who was armed with a knife, stole a purse. Once the intruders had taken the occupants' money, jewelry and electronics,  they fled.

Wren's Nest Road. Between 6 p.m. on July 11 and 9 a.m. on July 12, someone jumped the chain link fence surrounding the pool at the Settler's Landing Community Association building in the 2300 block. The intruder then climbed to the concession stand roof, broke a hole in the sheetrock ceiling and stole candy from the top of a refrigerator inside.
