Celebrating Ramadan

Lions Club seeks used eyeglasses and hearing aids
      The Bon Air - Manchester - Midlothian (BAMM) Lions Club is looking for donations of used and no-longer-used eyeglasses and hearing aids to be recycled for those in need of those accessories. BAMM is a supporter of the SightFirst program, the Old Dominion Eye Bank and Prevent Blindness Virginia.

Teen ejected from vehicle while fleeing police

      At 2 a.m. on Sept. 15, a patrol officer conducting a routine check of Carver Middle School spotted a suspicious vehicle on the premises. As he attempted to approach the vehicle, the driver drove off into a nearby neighborhood, ignoring the officer's signal to stop.

Professional dance coming to Chester
      The Specialty Center for the Arts at Thomas Dale High School will host its first Spotlight on Dance on Friday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. at the school, located at 3626 W. Hundred Road. The program will include performances by such dance companies as Charisma, Ground Zero Dance, Latin Ballet of Virginia, Z Mullins Dance Company and others.

Recycling contest coming
      It may pay to recycle in October. Central Virginia Waste Management Authority (CVWMA) will reward some curbside recyclers with cash just for setting out their recycling bins. Participants may win one of 20 daily prizes of $100 and be entered to win a $250 grand prize plus a recycling prize pack.
