School Growth Taskforce learns from Loudoun Co.
      Though both the Chesterfield and Loudoun county school systems have about 58,000 students, Loudoun spends $13,000 annually to educate each child compared to only $9,903 in Chesterfield. About 70 percent of Loudoun's total budget goes to the school system compared to 51 percent in Chesterfi eld. Loudoun's total budget for schools and county government is $1.

Nothing like a bargain
      Now is the time to buy. As a champion amateur bargain shopper, I can smell a bargain two shops away. Just take a look at my blue linen jacket. I found it on a sale rack several years ago and decided it would be my fall "fits over a sweater" and "goes with everything" jacket with two patch pockets.

Gifted programs are growing more slowly
      Parents are having varied reactions to changes in the school system's gifted programming implemented this fall because the number of students is growing faster than the school population. Some parents felt having gifted programs at each school "was diluting" the program and preferred the Center-Based Gifted (CBG) program.
