Laura Marshall, a third-grade teacher at Grange Hall Elementary School, received an unexpected treat during a school assembly late last month when she received a $25,000 Milken Educator Award. Only a handful of people knew the reason for the specially called assembly in the Grange Hall gym; Marshall was among those who did not know. More ... Chesterfield County Cooperative Extension master gardeners, in cooperation with the Richmond Audubon Society and Chesterfield County's Rockwood Nature Center, will offer a series of free gardening and wildlife workshops for kids this fall and winter. The Annual Chester Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Chester Kiwanis Club, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 14, beginning at 2 p.m. The theme this year is "Up on the Housetop." The parade route will run on Route 10 from the Chester YMCA at W. Hundred Road to Chester Village Green at Centre Street.
