Board of supervisors sued over rezoning case
      A well-known family in the development community is suing the county after the board of supervisors denied their rezoning request on Oct. 22. Plaintiffs Robert, Doug and Susan Sowers have asked the Chesterfield Circuit Court to overturn the denial of the 26.2 acre rezoning in the northwest quadrant of Genito and Otterdale roads.

Some business opportunities take shape despite economy
      Despite today's economic environment, two business opportunities are moving ahead, according to reports given late last month to the Chesterfield Economic Development Authority (EDA). The EDA works closely with Chesterfield's Economic Development Department to stimulate local business.

Fire sends two to hospital
FIRE & EMS WATCH
      Two adults were transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation on Nov. 20 around 1 p.m. after fire broke out in their home located in the 13400 block of Lewis Road. The home was surrounded by woods, and dry leaves blanketed the ground as firefighters raced to extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading.

Magnolia Grange is drop-off site for Christmas Mother program
      From now through Dec. 10, Magnolia Grange, located at 10020 Iron Bridge Road, will serve as a drop-off site for donations to the 2008 Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Christmas Mother Drive. Donations of new toys and clothing, books and nonperishable foods will be accepted. For more information about the Christmas Mother program, call 748-1183.

Corrections & Amplifications
      In the Nov. 19 issue, we incorrectly reported an amphitheatre project in Midlothian was reapproved by the county's Environmental Engineering Department. According to Planning Director Kirk Turner, "Environmental Engineering has not yet approved the site plan for the amphitheatre, but we are in favor of the concept." The Chesterfield Observer regrets its error.

      The Bon Air - Manchester - Midlothian Lions Club (BAMM) will hold its annual holiday peanut sale fundraiser at Sam's Club on Midlothian Turnpike on Dec. 5-7 and Dec. 12-14. Hours on Fridays and Saturdays will be from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sunday hours will be from noon-6 p.m.
