Changing routines makes school bus schedule bearable Dear Editor, Linda Meyerhoffer ["Early to ride," Dec. 19] needs to realize that there are better ways of alleviating her issues rather than complaining to the school system. I am a student living in the Cosby [High School] district and attending the Center for Mass Communications at Manchester High School. My 11-year-old sister is enrolled in the Center Based Gifted Program at Manchester Middle School. We both ride the normal Cosby bus that comes at 6:20 a.m., and we're not even the first stop! The route starts at 6 a.m. with about seven stops before us. This just proves that there are multiple people in the county that have learned to work around the early bus schedule. I have ridden this bus for five years now (middle and high school) and have learned that two simple ways to cut down on time needed to get ready in the morning are to take a shower and do all homework the night before. This cuts the time needed to get ready in the morning in half. I wake up at 5:45 a.m. to walk out the door at 6:15 a.m. Why can't Meyerhoffer do the same? What these parents really need to think about are ways they adjust their own lives rather than complaining. Seth Harrison Moseley |
