Shopper victimized in Wal-Mart on Hull Street Road

A woman's wallet was snatched in Wal-Mart earlier this month after she was distracted by another woman posing as a fellow shopper. The victim was shopping at the Wal-Mart on Hull Street Road on Jan. 4 at 10:20 p.m. when the suspect, described as a black female, 5'1" and weighing 140 pounds, engaged the victim in conversation, asking her about some merchandise. When the victim went to get the merchandise, the suspect unzipped the victim's purse and stole her wallet. The suspect then left the store.

In other crime reports:

Arcadia Court. Golf clubs were stolen from an unlocked, 1999 Mercury parked in the 2200 block on Jan. 2.

Caldwell Avenue. The suspect asked for directions as the victim arrived home to the 5000 block at 9:45 p.m. on Jan. 5. The suspect then pointed a black handgun at the victim and demanded his wallet. He then put the gun to the victim's head and threatened to kill him. After the suspect got the wallet, he ran to his vehicle and drove off.

Creekglen Place. The victim received a phone call from a female acquaintance earlier in the evening, saying she would be stopping by his residence later in the Creek Point Apartments. At 3:10 a.m. on Jan. 3, he answered a knock on the door and when he opened it, three suspects burst in the apartment. They took his money and other property and then assaulted him before leaving.

Fox Cove Circle. A portable DVD player was stolen from an unlocked, 2000 Toyota Sienna in the 15500 block on Jan. 2.

Grand Oaks Forest. The suspect entered the residence at 9:35 a.m. on Jan. 7 in the 5200 block, most likely through an unlocked door. The suspect fled when someone saw him in the bedroom.

Green Cedar Lane. A 1996 Honda and 1991 Acura were stolen from a residence in the 4200 block on Jan. 3-4. Both vehicles were taken from the victim's driveway.

Hailey Crescent Drive. The victim was standing in the parking lot of Genito Glen Apartments at 2 p.m. on Jan. 2 waiting for a ride when the suspect approached and put a gun to his head. The suspect demanded the victim's wallet, and when he received it, the suspect fled on foot.

Hull Street Road. An employee of the Super Suds Car Wash in the 14700 block discovered a torn up $10 bill that was heavily taped on Jan. 3 near the coin dispensing machines. Police theorize someone tried to insert the $10 bill to get change and then use the tape to retrieve the bill after the change had been dispensed.

Midlothian Turnpike. The suspect parked his vehicle in the parking lot of Chesterfield Towne Center near where the victim had parked her vehicle and made eye contact with her. The suspect then exposed himself and returned to his vehicle before driving off.

Newby's Bridge Road. The Orange Market employee had just opened the store in the 9500 block on Jan. 3 when the suspect pushed her inside and forced her to give him the cash register money and her purse. As the suspect was about to leave, a customer entered. Both the customer and the store employee were put in the cooler so the suspect could get away.

Starlight Lane. An unknown male suspect called the Providence Middle School to say there was a bomb in the school at 1:25 p.m. on Jan. 2. No bomb was found.

Willis Road. Shortly after 9 p.m. on Jan. 6, the victim was walking in the 2100 block near the exit ramp from I-95 when three suspects approached him. They demanded money, and a struggle ensued with the victim hitting his head on the pavement. The suspects took some money from the victim and ran off in separate directions.
